Common questions about tax documents.
When will I get my 1099?
1099 Consolidated forms are available by mid-February. You'll receive an email when yours is ready.
Do I need to report if I didn't sell anything?
You may still receive a 1099 if you:
- Received dividends
- Earned interest
- Received other income (bonuses, promotions)
Why is my cost basis missing or wrong?
Cost basis may be missing if:
- Shares were transferred from another brokerage without basis
- You acquired shares before we had the information
You're responsible for tracking basis if we don't have it.
What if I transferred accounts during the year?
You may receive tax documents from both brokerages. Each reports activity that occurred in their accounts.
What's a wash sale adjustment?
If you sold a security at a loss and bought it back within 30 days, the loss is disallowed for tax purposes. The adjustment appears on your 1099-B.
Will I get a corrected 1099?
Corrected forms are issued if:
- Companies reclassify dividends after year-end
- Errors are discovered
- Foreign tax information is updated
If a correction is issued, always use the most recent version.
