The General tab lets you adjust settings for account selection, how positions are shown, Active Trader features, startup options, and the overall look of the platform.
Account Section
Selected Account Dropdown
Select the trading account that the platform will use for placing orders, managing positions, and showing account information. Each account is identified by its unique number. Your selection will remain until you decide to change it and will be saved with your workspace setup. The settings are specific to the chosen account.
Positions Section
Group Position By
Select how you'd like your open positions to be organized in the Positions widget.
Instrument (Default) — Groups positions by the underlying security symbol (like SPY, QQQ, AAPL). This way, all positions in the same security are shown together, making it easy to get a quick look at your exposure to each stock or ETF.
Trade Time — Groups positions by the date the trade was opened, in chronological order. This helps when you want to review positions based on when you entered them and track your exposure by trading day.
Order — Groups positions by the order in which they were placed (based on the original order or trade). This is helpful for keeping multi-leg entries together and reviewing positions exactly as they were opened.
Mark ITM Position
This setting lets you choose which in-the-money (ITM) option positions are highlighted in the Positions widget, based on how close they are to expiration.
Never — ITM positions won’t be highlighted.
Week before expiration — ITM positions will be highlighted only during the last 7 days before expiration.
2 weeks before expiration — ITM positions will be highlighted starting 14 days before expiration.
4 weeks before expiration — ITM positions will be highlighted starting 28 days before expiration.
All — All ITM positions will be highlighted at all times, no matter the expiration date.
Active Trader Section
Autocenter AT Price Ladder Entry (Time Setting)
This setting controls how often the Active Trader price ladder recenters itself after your last action.
3 Seconds — Recenters quickly after a short delay.
5 Seconds (Default) — Recommended for most users. Fast enough to stay aligned without feeling jumpy.
10 Seconds — A slower recentering cadence. Helpful if you want more time before the ladder recenters.
30 Seconds — Recenters infrequently. Best if you prefer the ladder to stay where you left it for longer.
Autosend AT Order on Down-Click
If you check this option, clicking the down/sell button in Active Trader will send your order immediately without asking for confirmation.
Enabled — This speeds up order entry by sending orders right away when you click.
Disabled (Default) — This requires you to confirm your order before it’s sent. It’s a bit slower but adds an extra layer of safety.
Many experienced traders choose to enable this, but it’s a good idea to keep it off while you’re learning or trading larger amounts to help prevent mistakes.
Startup Section
Workspace Used on Startup
Choose which workspace loads when you log into Aries Infinite.
Last Used (Default) — Opens the workspace layout you had in your last session, including all open widgets and arrangements. Most users prefer this for continuity.
Default — Loads the standard "Default" workspace every time, ignoring your previous session. Good if you want a consistent layout every day.
Look & Feel Section
Color Scheme
System (Default) — Matches your operating system’s color theme. If Windows is in Dark mode, Aries will display in dark mode too.
Dark — Uses a dark background with light text and green accents. Helps reduce eye strain during long sessions and is popular among active traders.
Light — Uses a bright white background with dark text. Offers high contrast, which works well in brightly lit environments.
Font-Size
Sets the base font size for the interface.
Extra Small (~10-11pt) — Saves space by using smaller text, fitting more data on screen. Best for high-resolution monitors (4K).
Small (~12pt) — More compact while staying readable.
Normal (~14pt, Default) — A good balance between readability and screen space. Recommended for most users.
Large (~16pt) — Easier to read but shows less data. Helpful for those with vision challenges or older screens.
Extra Large (~18pt) — Maximizes readability but reduces data density. Designed for users needing accessibility support.
Widget Spacing
Adjusts the space and padding around UI elements.
None (0px) — Packs elements tightly with no padding, maximizing how much data fits on screen. Can feel cramped, ideal for multi-monitor setups wanting maximum data.
5px (Default) — Adds moderate spacing for a clean, balanced look. Suitable for most users.
10px — More space for a cleaner feel but less data visible. Good for less cluttered views or very high-resolution displays.
20px — Lots of spacing for a spacious, less busy interface. Helpful for accessibility or reducing visual complexity.
Decimal Places for Greeks
Controls how many decimal places show for Delta, Gamma, Vega, Theta, and Rho.
2 (Default) — Shows values like 0.65 Delta or 0.043 Gamma. Works well for most traders.
3 — More precise values, like 0.654 Delta. Useful for detailed analysis.
4 — Very precise, suited for institutional traders and advanced pricing models.
5 — Highest precision, for options market makers and detailed risk assessments.
Most retail options traders use 2-3 decimals, while market makers and institutions often use 4-5.
