Order Execution
Buy Market (Shift+B) — Immediately places a market buy order using your configured default quantity settings. Fastest possible execution with minimum key presses. Order executes immediately at current market ask price. Use for quick entries on strong breakouts where execution speed matters more than price.
Sell Market (Shift+S) — Places a market sell order using default quantities, exiting positions at the current market bid price. Use for quick exits when panic or major news breaks, taking profits on strong rallies, or emergency exits if your thesis has broken.
Cancel All (Esc) — Instantly cancels ALL pending orders system-wide, regardless of symbol, side, or order type. This is your emergency kill switch. Use when market is halted, unexpected earnings release, technical glitch, or rapid market movement requiring re-evaluation. Many traders keep hand on Escape key during volatile trading. Practice pressing it occasionally so muscle memory is ready in emergencies.
Add Symbol (Ctrl+A) — Opens a dialog to quickly add a new symbol to your Active Trader widget or watchlist. Press Ctrl+A, type the symbol (e.g., "AAPL"), press Enter, and Active Trader immediately switches to that symbol. No mouse movement needed.
Increment Up (Arrow Up) — Increases the order quantity in the Active Trader widget by the configured increment amount from Order Defaults. Use to rapidly adjust order size without typing.
Increment Down (Arrow Down) — Decreases order quantity by the configured increment amount. Use for scaling down positions or reducing order size before execution.

Learning Hotkeys
Weeks 1-2: Keep tooltips enabled. Focus on 5 critical hotkeys: Shift+B (buy), Shift+S (sell), Esc (cancel all), Ctrl+1 (workspace), Alt+4 (Active Trader). Write hotkeys on a sticky note near your monitor. Practice slowly without time pressure.
Weeks 3-4: Disable tooltips and rely on muscle memory. Add F1-F5 for quantity and Ctrl+A for symbol entry. Practice hotkey sequences (e.g., Ctrl+A → AAPL → Enter → Shift+B). Gradually increase trading speed.
Weeks 5+: All 20+ hotkeys should be automatic. Trading is keyboard-based with minimal mouse usage. Custom hotkeys specific to your trading style. Execution speed is significantly improved.
Professional traders who master hotkeys experience 50-75% reduction in order execution time, better trading psychology from fast execution, fewer mistakes from less mouse fumbling, and reduced hand/wrist fatigue.
